  • Blind screening of applicants to ensure value-based recruitment. The company is also dedicated to employee wellness - gym facilities, golf putting areas, table tennis and music instruments are provided.

  • Parental Leave Policy for Child Adoption where eligible employees are offered parental leave to bond with their child as well as paternal leave for new fathers
  • Career Transition Centre for employees to explore entrepreneurial activities.
  • Employees and their family members are also provided Parenting and Mind Therapy@Work workshops that teaches them how to achieve work-life integration.

  • Family-friendly initiatives such as 16 weeks of paid maternity leave and childcare centre for East Malaysia employees.
  • Lunch and Learn sessions introduce employees to Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) topics.
  • There’s also mandatory D&I online training to understand individual work style and how to build quality working relationships

Dell Global Business Center Malaysia

  • DELL Malaysia Council, which comprises DELL’s leaders, is committed to Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) goals. Key initiatives include maintaining or increasing 30% or more female talents at key decision-making roles through employee resource groups, mentoring programmes and programmes related to the advancement of women in the workplace and the creation of awareness of the unconscious bias, privilege and the importance of D&I.

Public Sector Organisation: Tunku Alizakri Alias, Employees Provident Fund

  • Under Tunku Alizakri’s leadership, EPF has recognised disruptions in the workforce due to automation. This saw the implementation of onboarding and mobile learning apps where employees can learn about the organisation through the platform and upskill themselves. Tunku Alizakri also supported wellness and diversity in the workplace by encouraging employees to pursue hobbies beyond their job scope, and to participate in art and culture activities.

Small and Medium Organisation: Noor Mohd Helmi Nong Hadzmi, IX Telecom Sdn Bhd

  • Noor Helmi joined the company in 2008 and actively drives the Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) agenda in the company. Under his leadership, IX Telecom has won prestigious awards such as the Enterprise 50 Award in 2016 by SMECorp and Deloitte, 2018 Matrade Exporter Award, The Brand Laureatte and SME Shariah Awards

Malaysian Organisation: Datuk Abdul Farid Alias, Maybank

  • Datuk Abdul Farid has set the tone for the organisation by strengthening and growing employees’ ability to embed Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) into the way they do business.
  • A strong advocate for creating workplaces in which every employee can personally and professionally thrive, he has championed initiatives that empower women in areas of leadership as well as economic enhancement.

International Organisation: Chua Chai Ping, Experian (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd

  • Chai Ping has been a champion for the Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) agenda at Experian Malaysia and Experian Asia Pacific since early 2017.
  • A mentor to women on career breaks and other female talents, she is the Executive Sponsor and Lead for the Women Network Malaysia group, which aims to drive the D&I agenda. She’s also a strong advocate for sustainable corporate social responsibility.

British American Tobacco Malaysia: Global IT Hackathon

  • IT Global Hackathon teams from across the globe are challenged to create prototypes that will benefit BAT operations worldwide. Winners of the hackathon can develop their idea and prototype hand-in-hand with experts at Microsoft’s headquarters in United States

Employees Provident Fund: MyFLEX

  • MyFLEX initiatives aims to improve the performance and work-life balance of their employees by choosing to have different working hours, off-days and any out of office locations to work at.

Outstanding Practice (Workforce)

DRB-HICOM Berhad: People with Disability Programme

  • DRB-HICOM’s People with Disability Programme (PWD) aims to educate the public that special-needs individuals can be an asset to the community and to promote equal employment opportunities for all communities. Through this initiative, disabled people have been employed and employees with special-needs children were given therapeutic aid.

Best New Entrant (International)

HSBC Global Service Centre Malaysia

  • The organisation’s Diversity & Inclusion Balance Network organises gender balance, gender equality and women network programmes.
  • There are talent attraction programmes for people with disability and an internship programme for female professionals to pursue sustainable career paths within the organisation after taking career breaks.

Best New Entrant (Malaysian Organisation)

Hong Leong Bank Berhad

  • Fully-equipped nursing rooms at branches and Bring Your Child to Work Day, a family-friendly initiative to promote work-life integration.
  • Four months maternity leave with the option to extend it with another two months of leave and paternity leave of up to five days.
  • Employees can also learn from a learning app with external certification that teaches them skills that will make them future-ready.

Special Mention

Kedah Industrial Skills and Management Development Centre (KISMEC)

  • KISMEC values a person’s skill, abilities and capabilities and strives not to judge talent by gender, race or age. Based on this, the organisation offers project-based contracts and have hired retirees.
